Human Impacts on Planet Earth is one of the two projects at Kalevi Sorsa Foundation running from 2019 to 2023. This project follows the different dimensions of the ongoing environmental crisis and explores its societal consequences. The underlying principle is to find just solutions that could steer our societies to sustainable path. The goal is to gather and channel knowledge of and solutions to the environmental crisis that is pertinent to the political left and organized labour movement.

Within the project we publish studies and reports both written in-house and commissioned from external researchers. We organize large public discussions and seminars, and smaller round-table style consultations with researchers and policy makers. We also produce content for the KSF podcast series. As usual, we collaborate with academic research projects as well as our sister organizations across Europe: Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS), Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), and SAMAK, the Co-operation Committee of the Nordic Social Democratic parties and trade union LOs.

Samuli Sinisalo manages the Human Impacts on Planet Earth project at KSF.
